As a hardworking, dedicated surgeon, I believe I would be a valuable asset to your team. My passion for Orthopedics started back during my Orthopedic rotation during my internship year. Witnessing patients arriving with enormous pain due to a fracture, and leaving with a smile on their face, was extremely rewarding. I admired how this specialty is dedicated to ensuring good quality of life for patients. At that point I set a goal to excel in that field. I pursued a residency in orthopedics in the major Trauma & Orthopedics Hospital, Al Hadara Hospital, in Alexandria, Egypt.
I registered in the GMC with full license to practice during October 201
My current residency is at Al Hadara Orthopedics hospital under the Alexandria University Main Hospitals. It is specialized in orthopedics and known for its insanely high rate of patients. Working in such a place has taught me to work for long hours under stress without losing focus. I also learned how to manage time, prioritize workload, work collaboratively within a team, balance urgent and important demands and respond appropriately.
My duties include working at the operation theater, fracture clinics, attending shifts in the ER, and ward duties.
Last year I worked as a junior doctor in Mid-cheshire NHS trust ,UK.I got exposed to NHS system and how orthopedics is practiced there.
It was very fulfilling to work in such an advanced work environment.
I understand how demanding yet enjoyable the field of Orthopedics can be.
Hence, I am committed to develop my surgical skills as well as my medical knowledge to always make sure I am moving forward. Through self-reflection and my constant analysis of my weak points and seeking the help of my colleagues and seniors, I become self-aware. I practice again and again until a certain defect is improved. I value being a safe doctor.I make a habit of consulting my seniors about all cases ,thus learning from them and making sure that the best quality of care is given to the patient.
It is worth mentioning that I took part of an Ophthalmology clinical attachment at Kellogg Eye Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. I Also took part of the ATLS and ALS courses which helped me a lot in my clinical practice.I have the privilege of practicing what I have Learnt in the ATLS daily and working as a team and teaching junior doctors how to work using the ATlS principles
My academic achievements and voluntary involvement are indicative of my commitment to all aspects of healthcare. Back during Med school, I was a member of a non-profit organization called ASSA(Alexandria student scientific association) which itself is a member of International Federation of Medical Students Association(IFMSA). We made campaigns including hand-hygiene campaigns, discussing gender-based violence, screening against Hypertension and Diabetes.
Between my Foundation year and my Orthopedics residency, I worked as a GP in a primary health care unit under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Health. On a daily basis, I took history, examined patients, and requested essential laboratory investigation. I also got competent in basic skills such as cannulation, ABGs, catheterization etc. One of the major differences I felt I personally had a role in was raising the public’s health awareness through vaccination campaigns, Breast Cancer awareness campaigns, Out-patients clinics, and infection control campaigns in rural areas.
. Collaborating with medical teams and health care workers concerning patients care and medical issues is always my main focus. I am a compassionate medical doctor who is always energetic and eager to learn new skills so I have no problem with asking for assistance or referring patients for a second opinion when needed. I a. Moreover,I attend weekly webinars by well renowned consultants to try to enrich my knowledge and keep updated with new techniques believe my energetic but calming behavior puts my patients at ease. I am a strong communicator and believe in providing patients with appropriate information regarding their health as well as allowing time to ask questions. I always make sure to raise their awareness about their conditions and how to recognize and prevent them.
I always try to encourage all my team members to participate in with their best skills and to provide and receive constructive feedback after every shift. At times, relatives of patients can give the medical staff a hard time whether it's their disbelief that the best medical treatment is being given or through unreasonable requests. This is where I believe I have a talent to calm the relatives down and slowly and logically convince them that the doctors and nurses are doing their best. In addition, I always do my best to ensure that they fully understand how the patient is being treated and what they should expect
.I thrive in a busy clinical environment. I consider myself a quick thinker and I have developed a habit of reflecting on every challenging case I encounter. It’s an honor to work on the frontline of the Orthopedic Surgery department at Your s. I believe I can enrich your team with my clinical, team working, teaching and leadership skills and will benefit from supervision and support to develop myself further.
