  • Company Overview: WFP's expansion of strategic engagement with National Governments and International Financial Institutions (IFIs) is part of a broader corporate effort to diversify partnerships and funding sources, particularly around the Changing Lives agenda.
  • To ensure effective and coherent support for Country Offices (COs) seeking to engage in the tripartite process with national governments and IFIs, I work with the IFI focal points to ensure that hands-on field support is available to WFP Country & Regional Offices that require it, providing the unique bridge between program design and partnership development.
  • Explore viable opportunities and new approaches for WFP's strategic engagement in the development space with the Government and other development actors, such as IFIs, particularly in rural transformation, sustainable infrastructure, and human capital development.
  • Provide and ensure direct support for Country Office engagement with Governments and IFIs, including developing projects and proposals related to IFI and domestic resource mobilization.
  • Support the design and negotiation of large/complex partnership proposals, joint strategies and/or MOUs in line with corporate norms, processes, and external regulations.
  • Coordinate with IFI focal points, capturing lessons learned, and integrate these to ensure a robust engagement with the IFIs.
  • Maintain an overview of trends, opportunities, and modalities of partnering with diverse Development actors at the Regional/Global level practices to provide advice, guidance and support to HQ relevant units, Regional Bureaux and Country Offices.
  • Analyze the national development plan, sectoral priorities, budgeting and spending priorities to determine how WFP could support the Government by furthering its priorities and closing the resources gap.
  • Identify and support follow-up on strategic and funding opportunities to partner to advance countries' development agendas and support achieving relevant goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda, the SDGs, WFP's Country Strategic Plans, and SSTC.

  • Company Overview: The WFP globally contributes to SDG2 (END OF HUNGER) and SDG17 (PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS).
  • Under the direct supervision of the Country Director of the WFP in Egypt, my role was to lead the WFP's partnerships and innovation team to implement its country's strategic plan and achieve the SDG 17 'PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS,' which aims to strengthen the means of implementing sustainable development goals (SDGs), including the development of a robust Government Engagement, Capacity strengthening, Digitalization and Innovation, Diversified Resources Mobilization, knowledge sharing, and South-South Cooperation.
  • Responsible for identifying and developing the WFP's engagement with the Government at all levels (highest level, ministerial level, and gov. level).
  • Develop and implement a Partnership Strategy for the WFP Egypt to support its Country's Strategic Plan under the direct supervision of the CD and in close collaboration with other teams, Regional and at the HQ.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the WFP's partners from the Egyptian Government and keep them informed on strategic operational updates.
