Job overview

My main duties as a class teacher are as follows:

  • Establishing positive rapport with all students and parents through home calls, emails and the Parent Teacher Club
  • Integrate technology into the classroom as an instructional tool, such as the Interactive Whiteboard
  • Communicate objectives for all lessons, units and projects to students and their parents
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and lesson activities
  • Teach literacy, numeracy, science, topic and PSHE following the UK National curriculum
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in students
  • Provide one-on-one attention to students, while maintaining overall focus on the entire group

My main duties as a Year Group Coordinator are as follows:

  • Lead regular meetings to evaluate the progress of current planning
  • Worked collaboratively with class teachers and teaching assistants to offer children optimal care and education.
  • Plan lessons according to national standards to cover all requirements and prepare for standardised tests.
  • Liaise with class teachers when issues arise that have a whole school impact e.g. Curriculum issues, resource needs, proposed outings, misbehaving issues in all year 4 classes
  • Co-ordinate arrangements for the year group for any internal changes regarding absence, taking over or covering lessons
  • Responsible for observing all year 3 and 4 teachers and co-teachers inside the class, following the BSE observation form
