- This is a five-year training program in an educational and governmental hospital, a tertiary referral trauma center that serves 4 governments in Egypt, under the supervision of general surgery professors and staff members. My duties included:
- Attending the outpatient clinic once weekly, for examining new cases, admission of cases for operations or investigations, following up post-operative cases for wound dressing in addition to performing minor surgical procedures.
- Daily ward rounds with senior staff for following up with the patients and preparing them for operations.
- Performing a variety of elective operations under the supervision of the senior staff in addition to assisting them in a wide range of operations.
- Attending 24-hour A&E shifts 7 times per month, for managing emergency and trauma cases. In addition, assisting and performing emergency operations under the supervision of senior staff was undertaken.
- Being a resident in an educational hospital, I have been involved in teaching medical students in outpatient clinics and explaining some of the basic topics. Also, in the last 2 years of my training, I taught and supervised junior staff in their work and in doing some operations.
