I am regionalist with a deep passion for ultrasound guided blocks. In all occasions I do my best to promote patient safety while aiming maximum utility of regional blocks . I enjoy myth busting . In my practice I audit efficacy and complications of regional blocks and being local lead for NAP 8 will put a frame to my current practice . I am known to say " If I intend to give 2 mg of morphine , I would better perform a block "
I play an education role in European Society of Regional Anesthesia, as faculty for Cadaver Workshop that usually takes place once every year around summer time.
I have been practicing ultrasound guided regional anesthesia since 2007, and have over 1500+ blocks under my sleeve. 40 % of the blocks facilitate awake surgery. I have the competency to perform all know blocks , including trunk , cervical and pediatric blocks . I have expertise in both single and continuous blocks . With in my department I am considered regional anaesthetics expert, and have the privilege to assist and support both junior and senior colleagues .I am leading on two departmental projects . First is awake breast cancer surgery , second is awake regional anaesthetisa for the unfit for GA patients.
Between 2011-2012 I acted as a research associate, at Dalhousie University, in Halifax Canada. Mainly performing experimental and clinical research exploring effect of shock on microcirculation. I was able to publish a hefty amount of papers in that period. I also participated in a project that was looking into complications secondary to regional anaesthesia of the ankle . I have 12 publications . I have also undertaken an 12 week online course offered by Harvard University with the title of Fundamentals of Clinical trials . The course provided a comprehensive overview of the design and analysis of clinical trials, including first-in-human studies (dose-finding, safety, proof of concept, Phase 1), Phase II, Phase III, and Phase IV studies.
