I am a recent Biomedical Science graduate with a strong passion for advancing healthcare in Oman through research, innovation, and leadership. During my academic journey in the UK, I gained hands-on experience in scientific research, mentored fellow students, and took part in leadership and communication roles that helped me grow both personally and professionally. I aspire to help build a more self-sufficient and resilient healthcare system in Oman, and I see the Bawsala Fellowship as a unique opportunity to learn from experienced national leaders, expand my perspective, and strengthen the skills needed to turn this vision into reality.
During my training in a molecular biology research lab, I gained hands-on experience in DNA extraction from blood samples, including evaluating concentrations using electrophoresis gel and an electronic nanometer. I deepened my understanding of PCR, including real-time PCR, and performed PCR purification and sequencing to ensure accurate DNA amplification. I also prepared samples for Sanger sequencing to determine precise nucleotide sequences. Additionally, I mentored a trainee, enhancing my leadership skills. The research focused on the relationship between COVID-19 and vitamin D methylation.
