I was rotating with Dr. Saint-Jacques in Harlem Cardiology for a month during September 2022 in which I assisted him in seeing patients reading multiple tests and studies and formulating a treatment plan for patients. After I was done with my rotation, I requested to stay for an extra month and Dr. Saint-Jacques offered me the position as he was fascinated with my performance. My position in the office included multiple responsibilities, other than seeing patients and presenting their cases to Dr Saint-Jacques, I am responsible for training the new students who rotate in the office every month. I was educating the students about the multiple Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems that we used in our various location that we rotate with Dr Saint-Jacques in. I am responsible for monitoring our clinical notes and the billing process of various office procedures. I am also responsible for performing the stress ECG tests for patients undergoing Myocardial perfusion imaging, stress echo or regular treadmill
Most Meaningful - I have learned the true meaning of teamwork and creating a friendly work environment. My Medical knowledge, especially in the cardiology field, has improved tremendously. The house staff have grown to be very important people in my life and to which I am forever grateful
I participated in a program that provides basic medical tests and administers vaccines for people living in underprivileged areas in rural Egypt. My role included phlebotomies, administering vaccines, and various medication injections. We also provided families with basic life support boxes that included food supplies and first aid kits. This program was in one month and we traveled across the country to offer help and support to underprivileged families.
Most Meaningful - providing help and support to people who are deprived of basic life support made me appreciate the graceful life that I have been granted. People's lives are worth saving, this is a noble cause to live for and it is not very different from a doctor's motives.
