Hi, I’m

Noha Atef

Associate Professor In Media
Noha Atef

Summary

A highly motivated media scholar with a PhD in Media from Birmingham City University, I bring extensive research experience and a strong publication record. My research, published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, as well as featured in Scientific American (Arabic Edition) and other media outlets, explores the intersection of digital media with social movements and participation, online identities, and emerging digital cultures. My book about citizen journalism (in Arabic) is in almost all the Arab universities' libraries.

My expertise is further supported by research grants from prestigious institutions like the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada and the Arab Council for Social Science. My diverse academic journey includes positions at Simon Fraser University, the Canadian International College (CIC), the Arab Open University, and the British University in Egypt. Additionally, I have provided consulting services to regional organizations in the sub-Mediterranean and Arab region, tackling pressing issues like misinformation, media coverage of migration, and hate speech.
