Material, Supply, and Demand Planning
I. Strategic Planning and Oversight:
- Drive and facilitate the entire S&OP cycle, bringing together sales, marketing, finance, production, and supply chain teams to create a unified and consensus-driven demand and supply plan. This includes leading review meetings, challenging assumptions, and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
- Formulate and execute comprehensive demand and supply planning strategies that support the company's long-term business goals, market share objectives, and financial targets.
- Continuously work to improve forecast accuracy by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, incorporating market intelligence, and implementing advanced statistical forecasting models and tools. Lead root cause analysis for forecast variances, and implement corrective actions (12% improvements in FA in Q1/Q2).
- Collaborate with manufacturing and operations to assess production capacity, identify constraints, and develop strategies to ensure supply can meet projected demand. This may involve long-range capacity planning.
- Design and execute comprehensive material planning strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives, production schedules, and inventory targets. This includes optimizing inventory levels, reducing waste, and improving customer service.
- Contribute to and manage the materials planning budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and inventory practices, and relief in the cash conversion cycle.
- Risk management: Identify potential disruptions to the supply chain (e.g., supplier issues, natural disasters, demand fluctuations), and develop mitigation plans to minimize their impact.
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement process improvements in material planning, inventory management, and overall supply chain efficiency.
II. Operational Management:
- Oversee the generation of accurate, multi-level (e.g., SKU, product family, region), and multi-horizon (short-term, mid-term, long-term) demand forecasts using statistical methods, market intelligence, and input from sales and marketing.
- Translate demand forecasts into actionable supply plans, coordinating production, procurement, and logistics to ensure the timely availability of materials and finished goods. This includes managing production schedules, supplier delivery schedules, and distribution plans.
- Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and production to ensure seamless planning and launch of new products, including demand shaping, initial stock build, and ramp-up plans.
- Oversee the effective utilization of MRP and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for material tracking, reporting, and decision-making. Ensure data accuracy and integrity within these systems.
- Work closely with the purchasing/procurement team to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, optimize delivery schedules, and ensure on-time delivery and quality of materials.
- Collaborate with production, operations, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability, avoid production disruptions, and align material flow with manufacturing schedules.
Inbound, Outbound Logistics and Customer Service
- Oversee the entire inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation and distribution.
- Transportation Management: Plan, manage, and evaluate transportation operations, including selecting carriers/suppliers, negotiating rates and contracts, and monitoring service against performance criteria. Recommend optimal transport modes, routes, or frequency.
- Order Fulfillment: Coordinate and control the order cycle, ensuring orders are prioritized correctly, processed on time, and dispatched appropriately to maintain product quality during transportation.
- Reshaping the full Export Customer service function with full governance, ensuring the achievement of the expected service level.
- Revamp the full export foundation, including the Export Excellence Agenda for 45+ destinations.
Pharmaceutical Industry Specifics:
- Good Distribution Practices (GDP): A deep understanding and strict adherence to GDP guidelines for the storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products, including temperature control, security, and traceability.
- Temperature-Controlled Logistics (Cold Chain): Expertise in managing the cold chain for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products, including monitoring, documentation, and contingency planning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Navigating complex national and international trade regulations, customs laws, import/export licenses, and pharmacovigilance requirements.
- Product Integrity: Ensuring the quality and integrity of pharmaceutical products throughout the entire supply chain to prevent adulteration, counterfeiting, or degradation.
- Serialization and traceability: Knowledge of serialization requirements and systems for tracking individual drug packages.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of material planning professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment post-Full Planning & Logistics restructuring.
- Set goals and accountability: Establish clear goals and KPIs for the team, and hold them accountable for achieving targets related to material availability, inventory levels, and cost efficiency.
- Foster strong relationships and collaboration with other departments, including purchasing, production, engineering, finance, and logistics, to achieve shared organizational goals.
