Also I attended an OR round to observe the orthopedic surgical procedures.
Working as a surgical resident has enabled me to develop my surgical skills, such as my familiarity with suturing, chest tube insertions and other essential skills. Moreover, in this same line of work, I have been the main surgeon in more than 50 surgeries, some of which include: appendectomy, hernia repair and anal surgeries like PNS surgical excision and hemorrhoidectomy. I have been as well the main assistant in over 100 major surgeries (such as lap cholecystectomy, splenectomy, colectomy, thyroidectomy, etc). This has furthered my surgical awareness and refined my skills and techniques
- As part of my duty and commitment towards my fellow doctors and my colleagues is to pass on to them what I have gained of experience and skills, which I am always keen on.
- On a personal level, I always believe that the handout of knowledge is to spread it as much as possible. As a result, I have made a number of presentations in different medical topics for my colleagues in order to provide a science-based medicine for them which increasing their awareness and improving their practicing toward our patients.
- To add to this, I have led junior doctors so that they can carry out a medical history, perform full clinical examinations, manage critically ill patients and interpret blood and imaging investigations.
I want to point out to my researching skills. although medical research is not an easy thing to conduct in my country, I have two papers about to be published. This was thanks to my insistence on reading in the field of scientific research and taking courses like Introduction to Systematic Review and Meet-Analysis (online course) from Johns Hopkins University and Negida research course (online course) from Negida academy. Please note, I did take many courses in scientific research including study designing, sample size calculating, medical statistics, scientific writing, systematic review and meta-analysis which I believe will make me an effective team member in an active Researsh team.
my papers :
I had made a presentation about the Egyptian guideline of preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis to my colleagues which increased their awareness of a science-based medicine and made an impact on their medical practicing for the benefit of our patients. Then i did audit about the preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis in cholecystectomy patients which helped me and my colleagues to reduce the rate of surgical site infection in our patient significantly.
Being a good doctor means being updated. This is what makes my attendance at scientific conferences very important. in order to benefit from my professors and colleagues, and know the latest findings of medicine.
attended conferences:
After i had read carefully about …… at …….., I became sure that I have the necessary qualifications to fill this position. Not just my qualifications, but also my values. Words like " integrity, compassion, respect, teamwork and making a difference " are the best summation of what i am trying to be not just through my career, but also my life.
-Integrity
I am a person who knows what it means to be responsible, so I am always trying to live up to my responsibilities. For example, when I had found that El nile Hospital has a high rate of RTA and critical cases, I took ATLS and CCrISP courses that wasn’t luxury, but necessary so that I could be responsible towards my patients, doing the right thing and treat everyone fairly and safely.
-Compassion and respect
I always prioritize good communication with my colleagues and my patients, as part of my job is to build trust with them. And to achieve that, I have taken a course in health coaching conversation from Imperial College of London to improve my communication skills and try to make patients feel comfortable with me being around.
-Teamwork and making a difference
In this part, I find nothing better than my student activities and my social contributions to emphasize the priority of the teamwork for me, and my constant desire to change my surroundings for the better. As a result, I will refer to some of my contributions to student work with my colleagues, such as my foundation and participation of some of the students initiatives, some of these are :
- IMFSA " International Federation of medical students association " : it is, as the name appears, an international student organization, to which students of medical colleges all over the world are affiliated, to contribute to making a tangible change in awareness of some health issues. It also contributes to the cultural exchange between medical students worldwide through student exchange programs. In IMFSA I was a member of scientific Society of human rights and peace through which we tried to increase the awareness about the refugees and their needs. Also I was a member of scientific Society of professional exchange through which I hosted many medical students of different nationalities and provided them with coexistence experience in the city of Benha and the hospitals of Benha university and organized many programs for them to visit the tourist and archaeological sites in Egypt. I also participated in the exchange programs tow times the first one was in morocco 2018 and the other in Italy 2019.
- I was a member of Benha medicine school’s student union (2012-2013)
- I was one of the founders of Al-Maktaba brotherhood at Benha school of medicine which was an organization through which we provided a wide variety of books to borrow for our colleagues at the university. Also through this brotherhood we have started a cultural salon and a cinema club through which we had many discussions about books and movies.
- I was a member of BSIRA brotherhood at benha university which was an organization interested in medical research and teaching the basics of scientific research to the undergraduate medical students.
Also, I would like to point out that my work in more than one hospital has given me a lot of skills and experiences, which enabled me to be able to collaborate with the staff team effectively to meet patients’ needs and furthermore, I can confidently liaise with patients and families to ensure that their experiences are positive and professional. I take pride in my work ethics, and I look forward to you exploring my supporting references. Both past and current co-workers would consider me as somebody who thinks highly of his colleagues on all levels and who respects guidelines and polices.
As could be seen from my CV, i have some advantages as a doctor. My jop as an emergency medicine doctor at benha teaching Hospital gave me experiences in dealing with pressure on the health system in times of crisis and epidemics. As for my work in El Nile insurance hospital, it added a lot to me in dealing with RTA patients and critical cases, and I also learned a lot of practices in either diagnosis the patients, examining them, preparing them for surgeries, performing operations on them and following them up after surgery, which is what any surgeon would wish for in order to gain experience. I’m also keen on qualifying myself better to assume my responsibilities towards patients in the best way, and this can be seen in my keenness to take medical courses (like ATLS and CCrISP) , attend scientific conferences (like Africa health, ESSHM and ESPRS conferences) and keep myself up-to-date with everything new in my field.
Last but not least, I would like to point out that medical research occupies a large part of my current priorities. Unfortunately, it could be noticed that I’m still struggling to have my first publication, although my skills in scientific research and medical statistics and the reason for that in brief is the difficulty in obtaining the necessary approvals from the ethics committees and the difficulty of finding an active medical research team. please note, I did take many courses in scientific research including study designing, sample size calculating, medical statistics, scientific writing, systematic review and meta-analysis which I believe will make me an effective team member in an active Researsh team.
Through these words, I believe that I’m doing the right thing by applying for this job, and I hope that by not sparing any effort or time in my work with you, I will reach my goal and satisfy my ambition, and I’m confident that I’m in the right place.
